Today we consolidated our understanding of algebra in a continuation from angle geometry. We used perimeter situations to model, simplify and solve using variables.

We focused especially on using proper form to express the perimeter of different shapes. We will continue our learning of algebra by modeling area situations next time on Wednesday (Oct 9) and our next lesson will be a review of two dimensional measurement by using them to calculate perimeter and area.

For those having troubles with the last few homework questions from the handout: Modeling Perimeter, the answers are:

10. a) 8x + 24 11. No they are not, P = 20x + 12, P = 15x + 21 for each shape.

12. ? = 2x - 3 13. w = 5x + 1 14. Other object is 7x + 10
