Today we had another algebra class. We looked over what we did last week and determined that when solving equations reverse BEDMAS or SAMDEB is the order to use. Don't forget to do your homework.
Today we wrote a quiz and started review work for the unit.
p. 460 #1, 3, 4, 7
p. 484 #1, 5, 7, 10, 11
p. 486 #2
p. 488 #6, 8, 18, 19
Remember that the unit test is Monday the 28th.
Today we reviewed the difference between perimeter and area. We tried to address the common areas where we get confused. We also started a formative review for the unit.
Today we learned Pythagorean Theorem. Remember we are dealing with areas of squares and must do a square root as our last step.
Today we continued our algebra theme by looking at modeling area. See the links below for homework and the class notes. Also remember your extra homework assignment to watch the Pythagorean Theorem video in the post below.
Next week we will be learning about Pythagorean Theorem. Watch this video in order to get ready.
Today we continued to work on developing our algebra skills. We used the perimeter of different shapes in order to model and solve unknown sides.
Today we looked at the chicken coop problem again. We learned that if the perimeter is fixed a square shaped run will give the most area. We also noticed that a run very close to a square shape will have an area very close to that of a square.
We also went over the test from last week and looked at the common problems people had.
